THRIVE: Meeting the needs of the Extraordinary Family
An Extraordinary Family? Yes! A family that displays needs beyond the typical. Families with children diagnosed with a disability, families who have adopted, families in crisis, families with illness.
Your precious day. You go from school to work to several therapy sessions, doctor's appointments, treatments or counseling and then home again. Parents are tired,
siblings are resentful, marriages are disjointed.
The THRIVE Model is a collection of strategies that we feel are advantageous for families to embrace. It was important for us to create this family template that would include all that
we want THRIVE to exemplify while serving the family in need.
Our model of THRIVE accomplishes all of these goals.
T - Teachable Moments...of appropriate social interaction with family
H - Honoring Each Other's Needs...identifying and implementing sensory needs, alone time and parent time.
R - Respectful Communication...recognizing and adjusting the family style of communication.
I - Investing in Togetherness...learning how to blossom joy while
organizing, planning and prioritizing family time.
V - Value Uniqueness...by following God's plan for your family.
E - Embrace Attachment...gentle reminders and support in building the
critical bond between parent and child.
THRIVE TOOL BAG
Our mini-version of the unique THRIVE vision, a one-stop sensory and activity shop for those helping the children of the Extraordinary Family. This is the part of our vision we will call the "TINY HOME"...It's cozy and has everything you need, but we may grow out of it. THRIVE COMMUNITY CENTER
Our completed vision coming to fruition. A place where families can get their personal needs met. Computers, writing desk, television, coffee bar, and fellowship. Complete with a community board to share ideas, information, quick tips, shared strategies and encouragements. It is here that you can breathe a sigh of relief...someone understands, someone cares, someone is willing to walk alongside me. This is the part of the vision we will call the "MANSION"...it is so big that we cannot do this on our own. We need the backing of the people who believe in us .
